CHE CHE NEW YORK

brand_cheche

Che Che New York is a company firmly grounded in the respect, love and close family ties cherished by the Cheung sisters, Marilyn, Eliza and Helen since childhood.

It is not by chance that the Cheung sisters were interested in making bags. The story of the company began almost 30 years ago when their father, Philip Cheung, owned and operated a factory in Taiwan. He manufactured and exported bags to the U.S. – but not the bags of the accessory business. His would not hold a woman’s daily essentials; they were to contain nothing more than potatoes! The girls spent their leisure time helping to assemble, quality check and pack these bags, collectively storing many happy girlhood memories of their father’s factory.

Although they later went their separate ways, they never forgot this bond, nor their individual desires to create a successful family business together. It began to unfold in New York. On a visit there, Eliza designed exquisite handmade gift bags for jewelries offered at Marilyn’s antiques store. This rekindled their earlier ambition to work together, and Eliza returned to Hong Kong to launch the family business with Helen. In 2000, the two formed Che Che New York and it became an overnight success. The name Che Che comes from the first three letters of their surname. As the inspiration for the business came from their father, this name was chosen because che che also means father in Japanese.
